Your bridesmaids are the people who’ve been with you through everything — and on the morning of your wedding, they deserve to feel just as special as you do. I offer professional bridal party hair styling as part of every wedding booking, so your whole group looks cohesive, polished and camera-ready.

Matching Styles or Individual Looks

Some brides want their bridesmaids in identical styles. Others prefer each person to have something that suits their face shape, hair length and personality. Both approaches work beautifully, and I’ll help you decide what fits best for your wedding.

Popular bridesmaid hairstyle options include:

  • Coordinated updos — low buns, twisted chignons or French rolls that complement the bride’s look without competing with it
  • Soft half-up styles — romantic and feminine, with curled or waved ends that suit most hair types and lengths
  • Loose waves and curls — a relaxed, natural look that works well for bohemian, outdoor and barn weddings
  • Braided styles — fishtail braids, Dutch braids or braided accents woven into an updo for a more textured, detailed finish
  • Sleek and polished — straight, glossy styles or slicked-back low ponytails for a modern, minimalist wedding

I’ll work with whatever hair type and length each bridesmaid has. If someone has shorter hair or finer hair that doesn’t hold a style easily, I know the techniques and products to make it work. We’ll discuss all of this at the bridal hair trial so there are no surprises on the day.

How the Morning Works

I plan the wedding morning schedule with the bride in advance, and we agree an order for styling. Typically, I start with the bride — as this takes the longest and requires the most detail — then work through the bridesmaids and other members of the party.

Each bridesmaid style usually takes around 30 to 45 minutes depending on the look and hair type. I build plenty of buffer time into the schedule so no one feels rushed and there’s room for photographs, getting dressed, and just enjoying the morning together.

If you have a larger bridal party (say, five or more people needing their hair done plus the bride), I’ll flag early on if we need to adjust the timeline or start earlier. My priority is always that the bride is completely finished and happy before the ceremony, with no last-minute panic.

Mother of the Bride and Groom

I also style mothers as part of the bridal party booking. Whether mum wants a classic blow-dry, a soft updo, or something more structured, I create a look that’s polished, age-appropriate and makes her feel confident on camera. Mother of the groom styling is equally welcome — it’s your wedding party, and everyone should feel their best.

Flower Girls

Little ones are welcome too. Simple styles like a neat half-up with a floral clip, gentle curls, or a small braid work well for younger members of the party. I’m patient with children and keep things quick and comfortable for them.

What Bridesmaids Should Know

A few things that help the morning run smoothly:

  • Come with clean, dry hair — washed the night before or that morning, with no heavy products or oils in it
  • Bring any accessories — if the bride has chosen specific clips, pins or hair jewellery for the bridesmaids, have them ready
  • Wear a button-up top — so you don’t have to pull anything over your finished hair when getting dressed
  • Show me a photo — if you’ve agreed a style with the bride, having a reference image speeds things up
